Pesticide Awareness Organizer
WHAT: The Occidental Arts and
Ecology Center's Water Institute
WHEN: Part-time, 280 hours total, Summer and
Fall, 2006

DUTIES: This will be a field position based out of the organizer's
home. Ideal
start date is mid-July 2006.
Familiarize oneself with the issues regarding the recent WTC vs. EPA
court ruling.
Generate new local educational materials to supplement existing
materials in order to create a Sonoma
County-specific information packet for
vendors, organizational allies and others supporting
the campaign. Create both educational materials for
the managers themselves and OAEC
Water Institute signage to be posted for purchasers inside
participating stores.
Compile a comprehensive list of vendors (including store location,
manager and contact information) and devise a
method for tracking all contact.
Arrange to meet with managers to educate, offer support, and
provide materials and follow-up.
Work with other allied Sonoma County organizations to enlist their
support with follow-up and monitoring for
compliance. Work with Water Institute staff to
conduct follow-up outreach through
local media. Draft work reports and meet
monthly with Water Institute Director to
report work progress.
SALARY: $12.50 an hour

Marine Mammal Center Intern
WHAT: The Marine Mammal Center, a rehabilitation
hospital for marine mammals, is seeking applicants for its Education Volunteer
Training Program.
WHEN: Program starts August 7, 2004. Registration deadline is
August 4, 2004. Training lasts for four weeks.
WHERE: Marin Headlands, 1065 Fort Cronkhite, Sausalito, CA, 94965.
DUTIES: Teach visitors and schools groups about marine mammals and
their conservation, as well as the center's efforts to rescue, rehabilitate,
and release hundreds of California marine mammals each year.

Naturalist Aide
